Cast Brass, rumble polished, patinated and unlacquered.  

Designed, cast and finished by hand in Sydney. 

Drawing from the memory of playing in tidal pools as a child at Wategos beach, this bowl has been designed and made exclusively for Rainbow Studios. Evenings spent on the beach, seeing camp fires reflecting on the sand, this piece is intended as both an ashtray and incense burner, with the stepped ripples reflecting little glimmers of light.  The unlaquered darkened finish will change and deepen over time with use.

ABOUT ASHLEY CORBETT 

Ashley Corbett-Smith is an industrial designer based in Sydney Australia working across product, furniture and lighting design.Approaching projects within a reductionist framework, his aim is to understand each of the elements at its most basic. 

As a result of designing and producing bespoke pieces for more than a decade, this has led to a deep understanding of the design constraints and nuance within a multitude of materials, furthered by experimentation and play to create enduring objects with character. Functional or not, it should be a little fun.
