Lauren and Kass Hernandez are Australian-born artists and sisters of Filipino heritage based on Wangal and Gadigal Land in Sydney. Working collaboratively as Crossing Threads®, their practice explores the intersection of art, design and object through handweaving, material experimentation and sculptural form.
Known for their large-scale, highly textural pieces, the Hernandez sisters have developed a distinct visual language spanning tapestries, wall-based works, soft sculpture and framed textiles. Their creative direction is now expanding beyond the wall and into the spatial realm, translating the tactility and hand of weaving into furniture, functional objects, and site-responsive interventions
