INTRODUCING ADHOC
Ignacio (Iggy), the Creative Director and Founder of ADHOC, has poured his passion into this project over the past few years. An architect by profession, Ignacio has always been captivated by all aspects and scales of design. ADHOC is a brand created to forge cultural connections between his native Argentina and his current home in Australia. His vision is to introduce Argentina’s incredible talent and rich cultural heritage to a wider audience, showcasing its unique blend of art, design, and architecture. Through ADHOC, Ignacio embarks on a journey to share this vision with the world, inviting others to explore the beauty of cultural exchange and the magic of design.
We’re so excited to showcase a limited edition collection of ADHOC’s pieces to our online marketplace. We took some time to chat with Iggy to learn more about him and his brand.
Iggy, can you tell us more about you and how ADHOC began?
“I’m an architect by trade, originally from Argentina, but I call Sydney home now. ADHOC began as a way for me to reconnect with my roots while adapting to a new environment. It started out of a desire to blend the rich cultural heritage of Argentine craftsmanship with modern design aesthetics suited for the Australian market. At its core, ADHOC is an expression of my personal journey—a bridge between my past and present.
On a deeper level, ADHOC was born as a tribute to my sister and my mum. Both have played a huge role in shaping who I am, and the brand is my way of honoring their influence and keeping their memory alive. Every piece I create is not only an artistic expression but also a personal homage to the strength and inspiration they’ve given me throughout my life. What started as a creative outlet quickly evolved into a brand that celebrates tradition, family, and the resilience of heritage.”
What is the ethos of the brand?
“ADHOC is built on three key pillars: culture, connection, and craftsmanship. The ethos behind the brand is about preserving ancient traditions and techniques while thoughtfully adapting them to the Australian market and lifestyle. Every item we create carries a story—one that connects the past with the present, inviting people to bring a piece of that narrative into their homes. It's also about fostering meaningful connections between different cultures and communities, drawing on the relationships I've nurtured during my time in Australia. At ADHOC, we are committed to creating products that are sustainable, ethical, and crafted with care, always honoring the artisans behind each piece and the rich stories they contribute.”
The pieces you’ve designed and created are really beautiful and such high quality, can you tell us how these pieces are made?
“Thank you! We have created a beautiful network of skilled artisans in Argentina. Each piece is handcrafted using techniques that have been passed down through generations. The process is very intentional and slow—nothing is mass-produced. We use natural fibers, often working with wool and cotton, and the weaving process is intricate and detailed. The artisans take great pride in their work, ensuring that every thread is woven with precision and care. This approach guarantees not only the quality of the pieces but also that each one carries a unique touch of the artisan’s craftsmanship, making it truly one-of-a-kind.”
