Mid Century Chess Set by Harper Fredericks

38cm W x 38cm D x 11cm H

Based on the celebrated Lewis Chessmen, the medieval pieces discovered on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland and now among the most recognisable chess figures in the world. Here the opposing sides are rendered in contrasting black and aged ivory tones, with the distinctive kings, queens, bishops and warriors giving the set far more character than conventional turned chess pieces. Equal parts game and decorative object, it is the sort of chess set that earns its place permanently on the table rather than disappearing back into a cupboard.
