ABOUT CAT YENN 

Cat Yenn is a Sydney-based artist and designer. Curious by the quiet ways people interact with their surroundings, she creates work that offers pause — playfully transforming overwhelming emotion into stillness. Focused on minimal compositions, her work balances structure and whimsy, giving flat shapes depth and static elements movement. After years working as a digital designer, Cat deliberately avoids any computer assistance or tape, conceptualising and painting every work by hand.

For 'RAINBOW ON THE ROAD', Cat has provided four works, including a snippet preview into her upcoming larger series ‘MANNERS’.

“For MANNERS, I want to explore other ways of creating definition and perceived shapes by manipulating negative space on the canvas. On a big trip last year visiting foreign countries and talking to locals, I loved observing the different ways people enjoy their surroundings and the company that they’re in. I am drawn to the subconscious ways people interact with each other, particularly how shared feelings can be expressed so differently in different languages but ultimately mean the same thing.”
